"Well crafted punk delivered with passion, professionalism and large dose of 'having a fucking good time' doing it!"
Moose / Studs and Punks 2009

Take 3 blokes, 1 lass, a much loved but care worn van affectionately called RED DWARF, chuck in some bloody good songs and top with more hyper activity than you'd find in a class full of 5 years olds that have overdosed on E102, E110 and a few too many blue smarties and you get....
MISPELT
This female fronted punk quartet are not just great musicians they are a pretty fine bunch of people too!
I've had the pleasure of seeing the band play a few times now and have been impressed on every occasion. First time was Dec 07 when they were a trio playing at The Park, Peterborough as part of a nine band all day bash organised by Peterborough Punk Club, they were 1st band on and Dunk got a severe case of cramp in his hand so after about 4 or 5 songs they had to call it a day...
But that was then and this now!
Fast forward to 2nd October 2009 and THE APPLEBY, BURTON-ON-TRENT, where
BREAST FEST 2009 was being hosted (A weekend of fun raising for Breast Cancer Awareness and The Teenage Cancer Trust).

The 4th leg of their STILL DYING tour which spanned six gigs over 10 days starting at THE RUNNING HORSE, NOTTINGHAM 25th September and concluding at THE VICTORIA INN, DERBY on the 4th October. During which time they played to audiences big(ish), small and pratically non-existant. However it is the music thats the thing and having been present at THE NORFOLK INN, STOKE-ON-TRENT 26th September where they played to two blokes one of whom was only still sitting in the corner cos he was to pissed to move (and where they still gave a fantastic performance) it was fantastic to see them play to an audience that contained enough people to be constitue an audience. It was also a very mixed gathering made up of punks, rockers, bikers, full length leather trench coated goths and head bangers, as well as one or two who wondered WTF was going on! Priceless.
JEN (VOX)

is a real dynamo. Her angsty, angry, adrenalin fuelled vocal delivery is matched by her perpetual motion style of her performance. It is fascinating to watch.(made even more so by the way she would be in front of the band one minute, then up close and personal with the front of the audience, to then disappear only to reappear behind the guys she had just been mixing it up with. It would interesting to attach Gen to one of those pedometers(step counters) to see just how far she travels during a set! She had the audience eating out of her hand from first til last.
DUNK(BASS & VOX)
as well as playing good solid bass lines also does some of the vocals as well. Normally you'd list this as B/VOX, but this is not the case here. DUNK was the vocalist in the original line up and now he ranges from more traditional backing shouts to shared vocal duties which adds a dynamic to the overall sound that helps set them apart from the 'herd'.
KEV(DRUMS)
provides the drive from behind the kit and he and DUNK create the framework on which the songs are built.
STEVE(GUITAR)
adds the icing on this musical cake. With all the tricks and riffs of a metal mayhem merchant he tempers this with some intelligent guitar work, keeping it simple yet powerful only bring the 'toys' out when appropriate to do so.
Not only did the band have a crowd to play to, it was a well warmed up crowd, who had the pleasure of listening to Six Weeks Falling, and Cambridge Female Fronted Punkers, BORN TO DESTRUCT before GEN and THE BOYZ gave Burton-On-Trent and those gathered in The Appleby a night to remember.
Launching the set (and I use the word launch advisedly) with the ironically entitled SAY GOODBYE what followed was approximately 40 minutes of well crafted punk delivered with passion, professionalism and large dose of 'having a fucking good time' doing it! bringing it all to a climax with JUNKFOOD GENERATION.
The Set List in Full:
SAY GOODBYE
FRIENDS LIKE YOU*
NATIONAL INSECURITY*
PETROL BOMB*
PARASITE
GREY
SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND*
FOXTROT OSCAR**
SPECIAL BREW
TRISHA
ALIEN
JUNKFOOD GENERATION*
None of these gives you any respite each being full on, balls out, in yer face magic. Unlike Born To Destruct whose song catalogue I know intimately and therefore feel qualified to give an individual assesment of each songs performance on the night, I am as yet not as familiar with MTPZ's work to do like wise sufficit to say that none of the songs leave you feeling either disappointed or short changed and the ones that really stood out for me were*; FRIENDS LIKE YOU; NATIONAL INSECURITY; PETROL BOMB: SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND; FOXTROT OSCAR and JUNKFOOD GENERATION. My song of the set on the night? A really tough call but I would have to go with** FOXTROT OSCAR by the slenderest margin. Short, punchy, punk perfection.
After the band left the stage it was great to join them and Born To Destruct in the traditional aftershow banter, back slapping, mutual respect love in that was further enhanced with that most perfect JUNKFOOD of our GENERATION the freshly cooked pizza! Oh Sweet Irony!
Oh and to the tight, mean minded, pathetic excuses of human beings that refused to come in to listen because the pub had the audacity to be charging £3 admission - FOXTROT OSCAR!
