New EP Junkfood Generation available at indiestore.com

1998 - The original Mispelt Line up, Ex Julies Dead members - Phil (drums) and Dunk (vocals & bass guitar)joined forces with Steve (lead guitars). As a call to arms to combat the covers/tribute band type bollocks that was the local music scene, in so doing, they devised a cunning plan to change the face of music forever. It quickly became apparent that this plan was not going to work so they formed The Mispelt instead. The main aim was to play their own material, the only bands that they were able to agree on that they really wanted to emulate was Snuff, Green Day, The Offspring, The Ramones & Motorhead. So they wrote a selection of 3 minute 'buzzsaw' no - frills songs and started gigging.

The 'Say Goodbye' Cd was recorded in 1999 with this line up, it was originally entitled 'Outraged of Kent', for some reason (best known to Phil) the artwork for the CD had 'Outraged of Norfolk' on it (presumably not wanting to offend the good people of Kent). Due to some deeply tragic personal reasons Phil took a break from the band - to devote more time at home, this was in September 1999, by December Steve and I realised he wasn't coming back.

With Phil gone, Steve and I decided to keep the band going, we took to practicing and writing new material, in a shed with the aid of

a drum machine. Following a chance conversation with Andre, he happened to mention that he used to play drums (what he didn't mention was that it had been 6 years ago and with his school band!). Undeterred Andre joined us as the sticksman for the Mk 2 line up, right from the get go he was just 'helping us out till we got another drummer' 1 e.p. (Same shit different day), airplay on The John Peel show and umpteen gigs later...

By now Andre was living and working in London and unfortunately able to devote less and less time to the band, so we needed to get ourselves yet another drummer (our support slot with S.L.F. at The Roadmender 2000 was his last gig), luckily Hils was available and was looking for a band, with her own kit, transport, phenomenal ability and with no plans to move - we now believed we had the definitive line up...what could possibly go wrong?

It was with Hils that we started to get more attention as a band, this line up saw us play at 100 club with Menace and UK Subs, our 1st TV appearance and our 1st record 'deal' with Frozenorth Records (the only record we went on however was "What Would Mummy Say" a comp album featuring Eastfield and Greenland Whale Fishers to name but two.). However once again what has lovingly come to be known as 'the Curse of The Mispelt' struck us...Things had changed dramatically for Hils on a personal front, so with Hils having boarded a one way flight to Berlin to be with her new beau and with gigs waiting - what were we to do?

Enter Timmi, he didn't want to join initially but Steve talked him round. This line up saw some of our best new material and the consolidation of the older stuff into the way it sounds today ($punkA and North of Watford), various zines were giving us rave reviews, interviews and airplay on the Lock Up (Radio 1) and Hardcore Street Sounds (Total Rock), a host of gigs under our belt including Jb's, Carling Academy, Also the Continental and CBGB's in NY. Things started to go wrong on a personal front between band members. Sadly saw the end of this line up of the band.

So along came Kev, our 5th and final drummer - his 1st gig with us was at Wasted 2004. With each change of drummers Mispelts' sound has changed and developed and to his credit Kev has taken the best of what has been done before

enhanced it and made it his own. His style (an amalgamation of Marky Ramone / Keith Moon / Clem Burke) has given us the power and edge, couple this with Steve's riff - tastic delivery is what makes us sound like we do today. Me? I just enjoy listening to them two fuckers and try to keep up! This Line-up has seen one of our best eps to date (Drive It Like You Stole It), gigs galore up and down the country and a brief sortie into the Netherlands, more good reviews and radio bits we are well happy.

Nevertheless…..

Towards the end of 2007 I started toying with the idea of bringing a new dynamic into the band, an additional guitarist wouldn’t work, for a brief spell in 2004 I gave up bass duties and focused primarily on vocals, but that never felt completely comfortable, it felt kinda clunky and awkward and with the departure of Timmi, Craig the bass player went too.

The sense that something was missing still persisted. We were well aware of Jen long before she joined the band; her first band (Defenestration) supported us at their first gig in 1999. They went on to very very big things but that unit imploded, two years ago she formed another band (Thracia) with whom we are very friendly.

Indeed when I was first thinking about changing the dynamics of the band in 2007 and bringing in a female lead Kev talked to Jen about this. However it wasn’t February of this year while Kev was out with Thracia as their guest on their tour of Malta did Jen put herself forward to try out for Mispelt, we knew she really liked what we do but never considered that she liked it so much that she would want to be part of it. Blown away? Fuck yeah!

A practice was hastily arranged around March 3rd 2008 – and we haven’t looked back. As a unit we have bonded almost instantaneously  - which is a rare thing, the future bright  - the futures MISPELT 2.0!!

Best gigs to date and what made them so?

CBGB - for obvious reasons - r.i.p. Hilly
Continental NYC - 1st time I had ever played abroad, and the last time I ever intend to play when jet lagged
Scum - Netherlands - because they were fucking mental
Sawyers Kettering UK - with [Spunge] - just one of those nights where everything was right

Influences in life and music and about any people you consider to be total losers in life?

My personal influences are: Women, beer, things that piss me off (a vast and ever expanding list - ironically beer and women are also in this list but for different reasons, I mean a bad pint can't get to you the same way as an ex-wife - or can it? Discuss.)
Total losers? Liars, cheats, thieves. Anyone who whinges and whines about anything and everything yet lacks the strength of character or personality to make any changes - no matter how small to do anything about it, you know the type "this is an outrage...somebody ought to do something" its never them is it?

Favourite Mispelt song - and why?

It’s a toss up between one of our brand new ones (Junkfood Generation) because it’s a reworking of one of the first songs that I ever wrote. But what's depressing is that its truer now than it was then. Also its going to be on the new EP and with Jens vocal its going to be awesome...or Say Goodbye because a) its based on a message left on an answer phone b) John Peel liked it and played it twice.

Why we should check out The Mispelt and convince us all you are worthy of our time!

CHECK US OUT BECAUSE WE FUCKING ROCK AND WE BELIEVE IN EVERYTHING WE SAY AND EVERYTHING WE DO! REMEMBER PUNK IS A STATE OF MIND IT IS NOT A LABEL!

"...next up local heroes 'The Mispelt' who say on their myspace site that they sound like the bastard son of motorhead and the ramones. Spot on. The driving guitar and sharp lyrics had the crowd thoroughly warmed up and ready for [spunge]..." Ken Nash Northants Herald & Post 30/03/06

The Racehorse, Northampton: 25/04/'03. by Kirsty @ Hot Mercury.."next we were treated to The Mispelt. Already gaining a large following and having been heard on Radio 1, i prepared myself for a group of very pretentious, up-their own-backside primadonnas. I was very surprised to be confronted with three very nice guys who could spare a little time for an amateur journalist after their set. That’s how bands should be if you ask me. Anyway, back to the music: I’m not exactly a Punk expert, but from what I could derive this was 'So-Cal' Punk but played at an interminable speed, and although good, it did cause me to giggle at first as three grown men playing instruments at ridiculous speed can be a very humourous sight. Anyway, I can see how these guys got on Radio One, and I shall be waiting with bated breath for their first single to be played there too."

Cd's

'North of Watford'(betarecords.com)  - Peter Thorsson SKRUTT E-zine SWEDEN, May '04:

I listened precisly to a german band before this record and what hits me then. Mispelt sounds a little like a some german bands(is this a peculiar review or?) what makes me say like this then, I don´t know actually. The seven songs makes me get a really good picture of the group because it´s must be more than three songs to really understand what it´s all about. Mispelt plays a really fast punkrock with a singer which sounds really angry. Must they be compared to anything else it can be with Threats, Skeptix and the little harder punkstyle in England.(SEVEN) 10/5-04
7=REALLY GOOD

For those that really want to know  - heres that same review in Swedish ( i shit you not!! - Dunk)

7-RIKTIGT BRA!!!
How cool is that?)

'$punkA'(betarecords.com) @ Keep Schtumm 'zine, Oct '02.."as soon as I put this CD on I knew I was gonna like it - a 4 track buzz saw rage, full of emotional turmoil and angst totally blew me away and at time reminded me of 7 Seconds/The Ramones, mixing UK and US influences to maximum effect. these guys could easily fit into any genre of Punk and musically they are way ahead of the rest. with hooks and licks all over the place, each song has its own distinguishable moments with plenty of diversity: excellent vocals, burning guitars and thumping bass make this one hell of a monster."

'The Good The Sad And The Paranoid' (frozenorth records / isound) Antisocial Behaviour 'zine, Mar '02.."every one of the songs on this CD are absolutely brilliant! Occasionally there's a full bloodied 'real' Punk sound like KLAW, UK SUBS and sometimes WAT TYLER, while other times its pure Punky-Power-Pop, not unlike MR JOLLY, TRAVIS CUT and The NORMA JEANS, almost RAMONES-esque if you like..what SENSELESS THINGS might have sounded like if they'd ever been any good"

'Same Shit, Different Day' (peoplesound.com) Fracture 'zine, Feb '01.."5 tracks of blistering Pop-Punk and a tinkle-tinkle Ska. This was a total surprise for what basically amounts to a demo and has a very good recording. They've got 5 songs and with them The Mispelt have found a niche somewhere between TRAVIS CUT and TURTLEHEAD....This Rocks!"

Ten years folks - thats right 10 years of mispelt mayhem! So we thought what better way to celebrate this achievement? How does gaining an extra member of the band grab ya?? Thats Right the lovely Jen currently of Thracia formerly of Defenestration has only gone and become the 4th Mispelt!! She will be sharing vocal duties wiv Dunk and generally keeping us in order! Ha ha - Now we have been keeping this on the q.t. cos we wanted to make sure everything is good, and it is but we were also thinking that this new and improved version of the mighty 'spelt deserves a new name, however we want to reassure our loyal fans that it is business as usual - soooo as of May the 4th we become MISPELT Two Point Zero! We are hoping to get into the studio in June to record some demo tracks and we will be posting them on the new mispelt2pointzero myspace as soon as they are done. Keep checking the websites and mostimportantly our myspace to keep up with all the developments - www.themispelt.com or myspace.com/themispelt

Fri 8th December 2006

Hey folks....well we are fast approaching the years end for all things mispelt. So its about time we reviewed the highlights of this year. Without a doubt the 2 best gigs of 2006 were Sat 2nd with UK Subs at the grinder and fri 24th march with Spunge at Sawyers - 2 truly awesome nights that will stay in our minds forever! Weirdest highlight was discovering that were 9th in the peoplesound.com download chart for metal/hardcore/goth(?). Most embarrasing moment? - Too many to mention! You may have noticed some changes to our various sites, due to popular demand tracks from all of our previous recordings are now available for download. Go to old stuff and after the band history are the links to all the old songs - enjoy! Our last gig of 2006 is at THE GRINDER on Thursday 21st December, its gonna be a party so expect new material and silliness all round... C U THERE!!

Steve has become a Dad!! - Little Daisy was born just over a week ago and all are doing well. We had planned to take November off, but in good mispelt style this was never to be. Not when we get offered a support slot for one of the seminal UK punk bands EATER! This means that our next 3 shows are ALL at Northamptons GRINDER! Awesome! We will be there on Saturday 18th November (with Eater) Saturday 2nd December (with UK Subs) and Thursday 21st December (with Harlot + others) - these shows are NOT to be missed and we urge you to part with your hard earned cash and support this gigs. Work on the DVD (The Mispelt Must Die!)is going slow but it will be better for it, launch of the DVD will coincide with the launch of a Mispelt retrospective CD provisionally titled "Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know" which will contain studio recordings, rehearsal demos, live recordings, interviews and other long forgotten gems from the past 5 years. as ever check the website www.themispelt.co.uk C ya on the 18th!!

Friday 7th April

We have had a truly amazing month. First of all thanks to Rotten Agenda, Citizen Keyne, and Dun 2 Def for the AWESOME gig at the Bletchley arms on the 17th! Excellent night and one that WILL be repeated. Abrasive Wheels on the 19th was fantastic - shame there couldn't have been more people (that's Northampton apathy for you) But still a cracking night - the Wheels are top blokes to boot! Then we come to Friday 24th at Sawyers with the Excellent [SPUNGE] - (who rule by the way) Never ever seen Sawyers so rammed, fantastic. It all kicked off and we had the time of our lives! Free beer as well - cool! Did a lot of signings and made some new friends, all good! Gotta say this but [SPUNGE] are amongst the coolest bands we have had the pleasure of meeting and I hope we get the opportunity to work with them again. Also got a Cool live review from DJ Kenny in the Herald & Post "...next up local heroes 'The Mispelt' who say on their myspace site that they sound like the bastard son of motorhead and the ramones. Spot on. The driving guitar and sharp lyrics had the crowd thoroughly warmed up and ready for [spunge]..." Ken Nash Northants Herald & Post 30/03/06 Weird one at The Horseshoe in Wellingborough on the 30/03 with Spiral Dive - can't wait for our show with them and Midnite Stalker on the 11th May that is gonna Kick Ass!

Cool cool cool cool. Get yerselves to as many as y'can. Also will (hopefully) be doing a 'phoner' wiv Anne-Maria for her hardcore Street Sounds Show on TOTAL ROCK.COM - if you cant make the gig, then get online and check it out! Tuesday 31st January

Strewth! Almost too much to tell you, yes yes yes I know the site hasn't been updated for ages -so what? we've been busy!!! Those that regularly check out hardcore street sounds on TOTAL ROCK will know that Anne maria played 'PARASITE' in its entirety on her show a couple of weeks ago, she plans to play more songs from Drive it like you stole it over the coming weeks. Sweet. Had a nice little piece in the Herald and post about us last week -which is also cool. CD launch is set for tomorrow at Sawyers Kettering - be there or miss out is all we can say about that one oh yes. Cd's will of course be available - check out the fancy new artwork yes indeed! C ya tomorrow!

Tuesday 27TH DECEMBER

Gig at the Racehorse was good fun - was good to air the new material for the first time and a good response too! All good LOL! Hooked up wiv our old mate scottish Stewart who handed us 10 copies of 'live at the soundhaus' which he had carefully put together - how cool is that!?! These wil of course be onsale alongside "Drive it..." when we go back on the road next year! The inside of live at the soundhaus reads: The Mispelt LIVE AT THE SOUNDHAUS 29/05/05 (BOOTLEG monitor mix) " This CD if the Mispelt was recorded when they supported 'punk rock legends' The Anti NOWHERE LEAGUE, at the Northampton Soundhaus May 29th 2005. Starting with the brilliant 'My therapist sez' which hits you like a baseball bat across the coupon, right through to the classic 'dead man walking'. This cd is worthy in any punks CD collection. 10 songs which have to be cranked up to appreciate the power that this 3 piece band generates. so give this cd justice and play it loud - AND FUCK THE NEIGHBOURS!" Scottish Stewart 2005 Never a truer word said, cheers Stew! See you all in the new year! As ever more news etc as it breaks...

MONDAY 28TH NOVEMBER

Blimey! Well its all go at mispelt central oh yes. Myspace account has finally come alive (due to us sussing out how it works) and now it looks much more healthy. Thursday 24th saw Dunk and Kev attending the premier of "live at the Lab" a short film featuring bands that have played at the Labour Club Northampton over the past year, we were reliably informed that they saved the best till last, and sure enough the packed club was treated to a blistering rendition of The Mispelt fav - 'Cider Gurl' to much cheering and clapping! All good. last rehearsal this week prior to our trip to React studios to record our new CD. You will be able to buy copies of this at our forthcoming show with THE VIBRATORS on 15/12/05. OOps nearly forgot! - you will in future be able to view video footage from our site once we have got all the decent footage together! Foxtrot Oscar!! More news etc when it happens...

THURSDAY 3RD NOVEMBER

Alrighty then, just a few pices of noos to tell ya - 1st off tonight at Corby is now our last show before we record the new cd. You can expect 6 (yes 6!) brand new tracks! They are (in no particular order) Parasite, Beccy Was, Sick and Tired, Superhero, Gotta Problem + Drive it like you stole it. The latter being the title track for the cd! Gigs have all gone well, we are as pissed off as anyone about SLimfest being cancelled next week. Thats all for now!

Saturday 1st October

We're BACK!!! We rocked the H.T.O. - OFFICIAL! Won't give you our spin on it just give you the direct quotes from Leicester music scene forum Pineapster: "Despite a mow teeny-weeny crowd speed rockers The Mispelt came on and entertained - they showed how just how mportant personality can be for a band, they got you onside with them and drew you into the actual songs.Very warm and funny between each number, but also tight, exciting and dynamic in performance,Kevin the drummer fighting flu like a hero.Another fine group of Northamptonites who should return to us ASAP. So well done to Sylvie,to Leth and to Gary for giving the HTO over to this event after its original Milton Keynes incarnation was cancelled" - Says it all methinks! See you at the Attic on the 23rd October- remember that this is a ticket only event and is almost sold out, so get in quick or miss out on the "Attics biggest punk gig of the year" apparently. Cool.

Thursday 18th August

BREAKING NEWS!!! - Update on the CLIC Sargent Charity Gig scheduled for the 24th of Sept at MK Pavilion Bar. Due to circumstances beyond our control -We've got a venue and date change. The event will now be held on Sunday the 25th of September at The Half Time Orange in Leicester.....super!

Thursday 4th August

Hey folks - looks like we are are back on the scene sooner than expected with our debut gig at the pavillion bar on 24th Sept. This show is for charity and will feature loads of cool bands including our mates Liliths Army, this event is being supported by local radion stations including Horizon (woohoo! LOL) - so look out for Mispelt choons blastin out over the airwaves from ya local comercial station for Milton Keynes / Bucks area pretty damn soon. As ever more news as it breaks....

Monday 19th July

Ok folks...looks like the summer holidays have come early for the mighty 'spelt! As unfortunately next Fridays gig wiv 'The Exits' is put on hold for the time being. Those of you looking forward to our return to the racehorse will just have to wait!! This means we have a little more time to work on our new material ahead of our return to the scene in October. As ever we will keep you posted with all new developments...

Monday 20th June

Well well well, Corby, Milton Keynes and Leicester - three cracking gigs in a row! Rockschool at the Raven (02/06) was insane as ever (Steve managed to leave his powerpack for his Fx processor there!) Sold out of CD's and dished out no end of badges -Nice! Wicked to see some old friends too who sang along to the old faves (don't think i couldn't see you singing Alien with me - you know who you are! LOL). Milton keynes (09/06) with the mighty Liliths Army was a surreal experience (L.A. ROCK b.t.w.)  - got some mighty big cheers from the stoodent crowd oh yes, then onto the Half time orange (16/06) another strange night with the Liliths - lots of mutual appreciation and some new fans made. These three shows on the back of the storming night that was the Anti Nowhere League are proof postive that the band are enjoying a new found passion for the music. The last few gigs have seen some radical changes to the content and structure of the live set, delivering a harder edgier sound, that keeps pulses racing throughout each blistering performance.

Now for some bad news. Due to unforeseen problems of a deeply personal nature involving Dunks ongoing family commitments,  The Mispelt will NOT be appearing at the 'Fuck The Reading Festival' at THE DOME TUFFNEL PARK LONDON on Sunday August 28th this year as advertised.

This has come as an unexpected blow to all concerned, not only because it was our only planned festival appearance this year but it wil also mean that we will miss catching up with some old mates. We wish everyone involved the very best  - we are sorry we can't be with you and we know we are gonna miss a treat!

Tuesday 31st May

Stone me what a week!! Warm up (unadvertised) gig at SAWYERS in Kettering on Wednesday 25th - in aid of the HEADWAY charity (we were the special guests). Saturday night (28th) saw us at The Keystone Escape (also in  Kettering) then Sunday night saw us and the Exits giving it LARGE with The League. What a night - all the bands kicked ass, we played our best set in weeks! All the new songs were well recieved, lots of folk there saw us with the Subs back in August and the general consensus of opinion is the that we are now faster and harder - praise indeed! A return to the Raven in Corby is scheduled for this Thursday - looking forward to seeing some old and new faces...did i hear somebody mention that there could be a Mispelt live CD making its way to the street?

Thursday 28th April

Biggest gig of the year so far was at Astonbury on the 21st, wicked night, good response all good! Sold loadsa CD's including (at last) some very rough bootleg versions of the new material, and we're gonna need to order some new badges soon! Also found out on the 21st that we (well, our music) is going to be used as part of the soundtrack for a forthcoming film!!! HOW COOL IS THAT!?!...Recieved a phonecall from an up and coming director who was planning to use a track by the Killers - but wanted something a little bit more RAW! More to come from this in the summer! Going to be supporting Steve hero's ANTI NOWHERE LEAGUE on the 29th of May - and we can't wait!!

Monday 4th April

Mispelt are confirmed to play  'Astonbury' at Aston University on April 21st 2005, we will be on the main stage - gig is likely to be recorded, insane lighting, more fireworks than a new years party, two rooms, about 9 bands, cheap beer good times!!! SWEEEET!! Check out Aston LMS  for more details.

Sunday 3rd April

Ok here goes...some of our regular readers / observers / fans whatever may have noticed some new links up on the site  - one is for the finished website for UK street punk legends - THE BUSINESS  - & we are all well pleased with it! Watch this space for further developments, second is the link for fathers 4 Justice - this is a subject very close to our hearts at the moment and those that know Dunk know why the band has had to take a back seat this year.

Now heres the really big news, Rich from RECNAW contacted the band yesterday and has offered us slots at the yet to be announced ALTERNATIVE READING FESTIVAL & SOUTH LONDON PUNX PICNIC dates will be in August (obviously) - but you know, curse of the mispelt and all that- so lets just wait and see LOL!

More news as it breaks....

Monday 21st March

Edingburgh. Lovely place, cracking venue - excellent people. We arrived around 7pm after a 6 hour drive and some appalling directions from MSN (who advised us to take the 'scenic route'- because it was 'shorter', yes - if you took out the bends and hammered the hills flat!) and England were winning against Scotland in the rugby - so far so good.Met up with Neil and the crew from Aye Ya Maw - who were promoting the gig (we hadn't been face to face since WASTED)- all good. Chilled out with the other bands, sorted out the running order, met up with friends did the soundcheck. Local lads, Last Ditch went on first, Mispelt second and Us vs Them were to round off the night. This is gonna be a fucking blast! - we are totally hyped! The local guys played a fuckin storming set, real good hardcore /punk, they brought a good and rowdy crowd with 'em and the place was rammed - the venue is a converted cellar so its all smokey and steamy. We take the floor - shouting and carrying on, keeping the momentum going. Steve launches into the opening bars of the revamped'therapist sez' - UP yer arse when yer ready! We all come in...then the lights went out. They stayed out and that as they say was that. It quickly became apparent that is was nothing to with the venue as the whole STREET was out -lamps, traffic lights, the lot. Only one word can sum up our feelings - gutted. That was once the shock and disbelief had passed. No-one could believe what had happened, its amazing how an atmosphere can change, party one minute, pissed off dispondence the next. When the lights still hadn't come back on half an hour later, the bulk of the audience left. Neil very kindly - sorted us out for our expenses, (it had apparently been their most attended gig) and offered us a choice of dates to return to play on - which will be announced in due course. We went out got pissed and stayed in a converted church. It took 7 hours to get home.

Tuesday 1st March

Well as you can see we are right on top of things here at mispelt central! Had our first gig of 2005 at Esquires in Bedford and a good time was had by all - next show is in Edinburgh and we are seriously lookin forward to that one (not lookin forward to the drive tho..LOL!)- would have been playin Glasgow the following night but due to family commitments sadly we have had to pull out of the show. Also i know we have been banging on about a new cd since JULY (yes, i know...) mispelt updates is proud to announce that the date set for recording of the new cd, which may (or may not) be called PARASITE is...Some time in April! Possibly. There you go - straight from the horses mouth! Negotiations are still underway to sort a date for the re-scheduled Aston University Gig - Looking like its gonna be at their 'Astonbury' show. Can't wait!!

Thursday 6th January

Happy New Year to all the mispelters out there! Hope y'all had a good Xmas and santa got you all those unecessary things that make us slaves to the corporate machine that is now 'Xmas (TM)'. Cannot begin to describe my thoughts and feelings on the unimaginable events that took place on boxing day. We are attempting to do our bit our good friend Danny at Esquires is organising a benefit gig in aid of Tsunami relief. This is NOT the date posted on the gigs page. It will be taking place at Esquires hopefully in January.

Many thanks to all those who braved the cold inside the soundhaus on the 28th - a truly eclectic night - BIG thanks to Alex from Spiral Archive / Venus Flytrap for putting us on! Wicked night had a really good laff!

On a different note, we got invited to showcase our material at Birmingham Hard Rock Cafe  - we were told that the 'Xtreme music group' were putting on this event 'Major Record Labels including Epic Records (Sony), Atlantic Records (Warner Bros.), and Columbia Record(Sony) will be searching for new talent at HARD ROCK CAFE in Birmingham, England February 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 26th and 27th Only' WOO HOO we thought gave them a call and sure they have a slot for us at 11:15 AM on Sunday 27th February!! O-kay we thought, and you only get to do 2 songs...hmm...we thought...oh yes they said and by the way there is a 'registration' fee...aha!! we thought...of £199 they said. FUCK RIGHT OFF YOU THIEVING TWATS we said!! £200 of our hard earnt loot to play 2 songs at quarter past bastard 11 on a Sunday fuckin morning to 3 completely bored and jaded record execs on the off chance that they might sign us after hearing every other c-u next tuesday with £200 to spend - NO WAY!! How much money have they made out of the more gullible?

We should be recording the new CD soon - yes i know we've been saying this since July, but shit happens and we couldn't all be in the same place at the same time. We've got most of the artwork sorted, just gotta record the songs.....

Finally sorted out the Scotland show-  which will hopefully develop into 2 more shows on the Friday and Sunday.

Also been working closely with Steve from south londons finest THE BUSINESS, on their new website - you will see the fruits of our labours in the next few months.

Thats it for now - more news as it breaks...

Saturday 4th December

Been a bit late with the old updates, blimey is it really a month since SCUM? Cool gig at the labour club, many thanks to Midnite Stalker, GrossePointe. Also BIG thanks to Aktual Size for stepping in at the last minute. EVERYONE played cool sets and we raised some cash for a good cause  - the day after children in need! NOT BAD! LOL! Renaissance man peaked at Number 6 in the weekender chart and TOTAL ROCK is back on SKY (channel 938) - so all is right with world. Oh and our 'last gig of 2004' wasn't and in true Mispelt style we are playing our last 'last' gig on 28th DECEMBER.

Wednesday 10th November

Had about the coolest time we have had as a band last Friday  - still coming down (quite literally in Steves case!!) Played with two very cool bands LAST TO GO and ALL FOR NOTHING, whom we hope to do some more shows with next year. Many thanks to Marcel and Sander at SCUM for their hospitality and to all the other regulars at Scum who made it such a mental unforgettable night for us  - CHEERS YOU FUCKERS!!! LOL

Steve's arm is now out of plaster and is undgoing intensive physiotherapy. The gig at SCUM in Katwijk is ON and we can't wait. Please visit the SCUM website via our links page to show your support for the bands 1st european venture. Also don't forget the bands last show of 2004 is at the Labour Club - Earl St Northampton, its FREE to get in but please please please make a donation or enter the raffle. See you there!

Tuesday, 12th October, 2004

Steve - spikey blonde mispelt guitarist - has broken his left wrist during a 5 a side football match. This will mean that the recording of the Parasite CD scheduled for this month has been put on hold and also puts the long awaited 'SCUM' show in Holland in doubt. This has come as a real blow to the band following successful gigs with new drummer Kev over the summer.

On a happier note - LIES has been getting some serious airplay on TOTAL ROCK with requests coming in thick and fast to Anne - Maria's Hardcore Street Sounds Show...negotiations are under way for a return to JB's (Dudley) in the new year as well as mini tour of Scotland. scheduled for February 2005.

More news as it breaks

Wednesday, 15th September, 2004

Dear DJ The Good Reverend Stryke Five, DJ Hexx, 'Unknown Local Heroes', Stupidbrick, Attila The Stockbroker, Barnstormer, Dan Donovan, Kallinger Co., Zounds, Rides The Bus, Politicide, The Happy Hostages, Nervous Tension, Face The Enemy, The Mispelt, Hotwired, Eastfield, The Adulescents UK, Lowlife UK, 3 Cornered Rug (3CR), Among The Missing, and Jon Wilson,

On behalf of Casa Alianza UK, can I thank all of you for your time and support in making a success of Doin' It For The Kids 2.

Over Friday, 10th, and Saturday, 11th September, 2004, we raised £1,361.75, of which every penny will go towards the defence and rehabilitation of street children in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Mexico.

Two hundred people attended the Punkfest, so we also raised awareness of the plight of these children, of whom all are subjected to hunger, substance misuse, violence, rape, illegal adoption, abduction for organs, illegal detention, torture, mutilation, and extrajudicial execution at the hands of private citizens, national police forces, military personnel, and governments.

As well as thanking those of you who shared your equipment or donated the profits from the sale of your merchandise, can I thank those people who contributed in other ways. For example, Eagle, who organised the event, Derek and Theresa Hall of The Indian Queen, who provided the venue for free, Gareth and Lillian Skinner of Never Mind The Music Store (Boston), Julie Simmons of Katmandu (Boston), Vincent Ramsey of Planet Of Sound (Lincoln), and Peter Wells of House On The Borderland (Peterborough), who sponsored the event.

Also, DJ The Good Reverend Stryke Five and Temple Music for entertaining customers downstairs on the Saturday, DJ Hexx for being soundman for the weekend, Jon Wilson for photographing the event, and the young woman who cut hair at fifty pence a time to raise the money to buy the ingredients to bake the one hundred pasties that we ate!

There are photographs but only of those bands which played on the Friday, which were 'Unknown Local Heroes', Stupidbrick, Attila The Stockbroker with Barnstormer, Dan Donovan, Kallinger Co., and Zounds. If any of you would like copies of them, please contact me and I'll e-mail them to you!

Again, on behalf of Casa Alianza UK, can I thank all of you for your time and support.

Until next year and Doin' It For The Kids 3!

Yours Sincerely,

Oh yeah -  and the guestbook has returned.

More news, as and when...

SAT 1st MAY

Is it all over for The Mispelt?

Due to a lot of ill feeling harboured over many months, Dunk, Steve, Timmi and Craig are no longer The Mispelt. The situation was handled badly due to the depth of ill feeling and everyone has been upset by subsequent events. Dunk and Steve will try to continue the band, understandably as the newest member Craig has stuck by his best friend Timmi and has left the band.

Please continue to check this page for more news as it breaks.

FRI 16th APR
Holland postponed till November
Sadly this gig has had to be postponed till later in the year - due to some unforeseen circumstances. We, as well as the Holland crew were well disappionted by this turn of events but unfortunately was just one of those things.

MON 12th APR
The Mispelt - Easter Frenzy at Corby
First time out for craig to the 'home' crowd, nerves wuz runnin high for this one and you guys did us proud!! Wikkid response - always cool to hear the words of our songs sung back at us! C ya soon!

SAT 13th MAR
The Mispelt in Rhyl, Wales...
today, we headed for Rhyl, North Wales to support Hardcore crew ASSERT..left at 2, arrived about 5.30pm.
took a quick peak at the beach -but it was peeing it down with rain n too cold, so we went to the venue.
waiting for the promoter and soundguy to show up we went thru a lengthy Liverpool, Leicester n Wolves football chat/debate with Brit of Assert n after a VERY delayed soundcheck, we went for a photo-shoot n got pelted with eggs by local casuals as we stood outside the venue. but, around 9.15pm we went on, did our thang -n got a pretty rowdy, but cool reception...Dunk havin the "show us ya tits" and "i'll give ya a fiver if ya stick a crayon up ya nose" treatment...
we got asked back on stage to play 'Renaissance Man' again -so Steev decided we'd do a 'heavy' version of the song.
the audience left happy, proudly displaying their new Mispelt badges, we got booked again by the promoter, tasted the local food n back we came to Northampton -an entertaining day for DEFINATE!

THURS 11th MAR
today, at 11.30am, we got a call from a promoter in London asking us if we could support STIFF LITTLE FINGERS @ Birmingham's Carling Academy after the billed support pulled out last nite!!!
after 20mins of sorting out our work shifts....we said "yeah, course".
so, we drove to Birmingham, got on stage in front of 600 die hard SLF fans n got a wicked response!! -hows THAT?

THURS 4th MAR
well, after only having 3 PRACTICES with us (thats including his audition)...KRAIG played his first gig as a member of The Mispelt!
The 'very new' Mispelt played our first gig as a 4-piece @ JB's in DUDLEY...we sold 2 cd's, so we cant've been half bad huh? ha ha!

{WED 25th FEB}
as stated in 'The Spelter' newsletter -we now have a new line-up for 2004!!
Dunk has decided to move off Bass n concentrate on Lead Vocals alone n we've hooked up KRAIG to be our new bassist.
those of ya who remember Choka OR 2th-Pik will remember Kraig from them days....n i can easily state here n now -we had our bitchin, BUT, before Steev, hes the best musician id played with in 6/7yrs n its ALL good in The Mispelt!
-TIMMI

{TUES 10th FEB}
the last 3 weeks we've been hard at work booking us some gigs after our 'slack' start to 2004...but we've had to cancel two today @ The Roadmender on Fri March 19th - AND the Punk Aid festival due to Steev having a wedding to attend in New Orleans, USA.
we ARE trying to book in Europe this year, pretty much looks like USA is gunna be held back 'til Apr/May 2005.

{SUN 18th JAN}
we were interviewed on TOTAL ROCK RADIO today, on the 'Hardcore Street Sounds' show by Anne-Maria...she aired 'Petrol Bomb', 'As Long As Its Grey' & 'Drunktowne' from the 'NORTH OF WATFORD' cd.
we had a good laugh with Anne-Maria and she played some of our influences too inc. Rancid/Stray Cats/Motorhead/The Ramones/Suicidal Tendencies & Green Day.
we missed a fonecall from the organisers, as we got to the station late, but we've been added to the 'Wasted Festival' (old 'H.I.T.S' festival) in July @ Morecambe.
we ALSO met legendary Rock dj Mr 'TV-on-the-radio' Tommy Vance too....a coooooool day for THE MISPELT!!!

WHERE'S YOUR XMAS??....
one week on from the official launch date of the 'Punk Aid' single "'Ere's your Xmas" and it seems to have gone off radar. the single appears to have attracted approximately ZERO airplay, ditto for the video...infact the only place i have been able to see the video is to download it via the 'Punk Aid' website. interestingly the site which is hosting the video is infact THE SUN newspapers homepage...am i the only person who finds this a little odd?

{MON DEC 1st}
played at the launch party for 'Punk-Aid's' Xmas single for charity -'Ere's Your Christmas' @ Total Rock's venue -King's Head, Fulham in London. as well as US playing, there were sets from Brighton girl-rockers Teasing Lulu and Punk solo legend TV Smith. there was also a playback of the video for the single which we were involved in recording last week. Captain Sensible, Chris Bashford, Jo Guest, Rik Waller and the 'usual suspects' were in attendance....WE just wanna say a BIG thank u to Emma & Fifi for their massive n mental support!

{WED 26th NOV}

{MON 24th NOV}
@ Spotlight Studios, London today for the video-shoot of
'Ere's Your Christmas'
for 'Punk-Aid'.
though we're not a major part in the video, Steev actually got filmed at the very start of the video, we were filmed alongside the band, which consisted of;
CHARLIE HARPER (UK Subs) on vocals,
CAPTAIN SENSIBLE (The Damned) on guitar,
TIM VICIOUS (Punk-Aid organiser) on bass,
CHRIS BASHFORD (Chelsea) on drums...the band were using Timmi's drumkit and Dunk's bass.
the video revolves around 'nasty NICK' (Big Brother) & JO GUEST, plus live footage of the song being recorded. Nick plays a Christmas office party sleaze, Steev's in this scene -he gets chatted up by a girl who turns down nasty Nick's advances, then Nick has a heavenly 'dream'...Jo Guest pops up as the 'Punk Fairy' and takes him to Father Christmas. other stars at the recording and featured in the video were RIK WALLER & CARLA WINTERS (Pop Idol) and around 15 glamour models/page 3 girls (Fifi, Emma & Natasha -we love ya ALL!)
OBVIOUSLY we had a cooooooooool day, it dragged at times -but we stuck it out and had a wicked laugh with everyone around...Dunk singing a duet with Rik Waller off camera, Timmi helping Jo Guest get dressed n Steev gettin offered to play guitar for Carla Winters' new project...but WHO ate all the pizza??
the single is released on 8th DECEMBER and ALL proceeds will go to
INGFIELD MANOR SCHOOL (for children with Cerebral Palsey) and M.A.D.E (music and drama experience in Fleetwood).
